Optimization of the Ray Tracing Algorithm for RPG (TMT AO Facility)

  • Developed a ray tracing program using C that reduces the effects of atmospheric distortion by using bilinear interpolation to reconstruct distorted wavefronts for the Reconstruction Parameter Generator used by the Adaptive Optics team.
  • Maximized performance and efficiency by using various directives from OpenMP API.
  • Conducted benchmarks of the ray tracing program with the Intel Xeon Phi 7210 CPU and other CPUs.
